This recipe aired during our March 3 episode featuring crisis counselor Emma Ferrell.

Ingredients and Materials for Ginger Bug:

  • a washed, organic ginger root, grated or peeled (about a tablespoon)

  • a glass jar with a lid

  • 1 tablespoon of sugar

  • non-chlorinated water

Ingredients and Materials for Ginger Beer:

  • 2 oz. of ginger per bottle (peeling is optional)

  • unchlorinated water

  • a strainer

  • sugar

  • bottle(s)

  • a funnel

Ensure your sweetened, diluted ginger juice is cool before adding your ginger bug liquid -- heat will kill our friends!
